We know that, to achieve long term results, you need long term changes to your lifestyle. So, we offer help with getting started and setting up a plan that will keep you reaching your goals in the future.
At LapSurgery Australia we believe in providing the best possible care for our patients. That’s why our team includes an accredited dietitian.
Research shows that most people can’t stick to diets in the long term. So our dietitian focuses on creating a plan for your nutrition that you can stick to.
The right combination of nutrition can help to promote fullness and so, along with listening in to the body’s hunger signals, it is often possible to lose weight without excessive hunger or restrictive dieting.
At LapSurgery Australia our goal is to offer a fully integrated model of care to help you to improve your health and assist with weight loss. This is why we have a qualified, experienced exercise professional to help you reach your goals to lead a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
Our physiotherapist is different to personal trainers or gym instructors. They are university qualified allied health professionals, who specialise in the prescription of exercise for various health issues including pre-existing conditions. This expertise enables you to reach your health and wellness goals efficiently, effectively and safely.
We know that habits can often get in the way of making changes to your lifestyle. Our experienced psychologist can help you to find out why you have struggled to make changes in the past and how work through this to reach your goals.
Using evidence-based psychological techniques, our psychologist can help you to set meaningful goals and achieve them. She can also help with managing mental health conditions, emotional eating, motivation and more.

Many of our patients have difficulty losing weight which is why we can now investigate your metabolism with our new ECAL indirect calorimetry technology. ECAL is the world’s first Energy Testing System designed specifically to aid practitioner management of Chronic diseases such as Obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes.
Using ECAL we can gather key physiological data that allows us to:
The test itself is a 5-minute breath test. You will be asked to relax and breathe into a mouth piece for around 5 minutes. The ECAL machine will measure the levels of carbon-dioxide you are breathing out which will be used in calculations to determine your metabolic profile. Your session will also involve an assessment before the test and a summary of the results of the test and recommended actions. The test results are processed immediately.
ECAL uses indirect calorimetry, the gold standard for assessing human metabolism. Information gathered from ECAL includes daily energy requirement at rest in calories, how this energy is being produced (whether from fat or carbohydrate), and the efficiency with which cells use oxygen for energy production. Such technology was previously only available to elite athletes and academic researchers but is now available to the public at LapSurgery Australia.
